I've applied to the Evergreen School multiple times. After work with their students, I enjoyed the culture and decided to keep an eye on their job openings. Both times I applied, it was like pulling teeth to even get a "Your application has been recieved" email. In fact the first time, I never heard anything from them even though I emailed and called several times to follow up.
The second time I applied, I walked into a very misleading interview scenario. I applied for a 5th grade position. They gave me a screen call which was very warm and conversational, except that during the call they instead offered me an interview for the 3rd grade position. I was then told to come by the school the next week, meet with the head of the grade level "...and just walk around the campus and get to know each other." When I arrived, it turned out to be a 5 person panel interview for less than 30 minutes. It just feels like several interviewing best practices (good communication with the applicant, clear expectations for interviews) where neglected. I was ultimately not offered the position, but was instead offered a TA position.
