I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at EcoCart (Remote) in Oct 2022
Interview
1. Phone screening with the recruiter. This did involve some product-specific questions you might expect to hear from a hiring manager. 2. Interview with hiring manager 3. Whiteboarding exercise with Design and Development leads. They sent a prompt 24 hours in advance around a Product Design question. In the interview you lead the team through your process and whiteboarding a high-level UI. 4. Interview with the CEO
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you used data to inform a product decision
The interview process was very smooth and engaging. First round with manager, after that, a take-home assignment followed by a talk with CEO.
I got the job offer from them and after getting it, I talked to a few of the previous engineers worked at EcoCart. Following are the feedbacks I collected from them:
1. The product is not scalable and involves a lot of manual processes.
2. They saw little growth in the company.
3. Most of the engineers left the organization in a very short span of time.
Despite all the negative feedback, I got a good impression of their vision, CEO, and management team and decided to take the offer. After taking the offer, I didn't receive any response for a few days despite taking follow-ups. After a few days, I got an apology email from them stating that they have to go back from their offer due to some timeline issues.
I have not only spent significant time in the process but I have also declined another opportunity to pursue this one.
My only recommendation to other candidates would be to be careful and clarify all the points before taking a decision.
But overall the company's management is good and great people so you can pursue the opportunities with them but with extra caution.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at EcoCart in Jun 2022
Interview
- HR screening interview, 20-30 minutes
- Engineer screening interview, approx. 30 minutes
- Take-home coding assessment
- Meet again to talk about the project you created (I didn't get to this stage)
After I submitted my code, they took a week to get back to me (and only after I sent an email asking for an update). They gave no indication that they looked at my code, and they named the wrong position (said Backend Engineer instead of Frontend Engineer) in the rejection email.
It is not a polite practice to have someone do a coding assessment and not even acknowledge it.
