Advertised as marketing manager turned out to be jack of all trades one man show with specialist salary. Only reached first round, and wouldn't agree on a second one after noticing the below: Felt the recruiter wasn't paying much attention to what I was saying, but was simply checking my qualifications/experience and ticking boxes. The role description itself is very wide, unstructured and a lot of marketing functions are to be carried by one person called marketing manager which is totally different than a generalist or specialist role (which is what the role really is). This person is expected to carry out task in 6 main marketing channels without a team underneath them or work with external agencies. No scope for building a team, The worst part was I got cornered to give a desired salary number and when I explained that I don't have enough data and also had the wrong impression and the role's seniority. Because of that I asked if I could be given the budget range to which they have allocated for this role. To which the recruiter avoided giving me saying that they are not allowed to share the info, but would happily corner me (asked me more than once) in the first interview to give them a salary number of a position I did not have the full scope. Cut the long story short because I validly challenged the job description, the role structure and didn't not give a salary range I thankfully got rejected. Overall not the first impression I was expecting from an otherwise innovative tech company, in contrary very unprofessional and backward thinking.
