I had a decent enough experience at the start, but then it soured and went bad, big time at the end. Really shocking communication - or complete lack of it - and an unprofessional way of communicating that the company changed its mind on hiring me.
I applied for two different roles and had five interviews in all, including a case study. Disorganised - neither of the two teams seemed to speak to each other. Big organisation I know but you'd think their HR / Recruitment team would be joined up. Not at all, it turns out.
I had an 'offer' letter from my recruiter come through start of April, spelling out terms and conditions of employment, which looked genuine. With hindsight this was the an 'industry lock' offer, but being a trusting sort I took it as genuine.
Beware this tactic: my very strong advice to other candidates. It's highly unethical, devious and does not reflect well on the company. It's like 'oh, we need a pipeline, so we'll sway you with a nice juicy offer' then drop you when we feel like it.
I kept the pressure on the HR team to get a firm answer via my recruitment agency .The Deloittes side were rude, defensive and just ignored calls from my recruiter, and then lied, saying 'oh that Partner is busy, we'll have to go for another one.'
Partner then changed his mind. In his gift to do that, I know but after being dicked around for 6 weeks, lied to and then let down - the company didn't even have the decency to provide any professional feedback.
I'm sorry, but Deloitte suck. Big time.
Getting a one word rejection 'unsuccessful' via a company portal with no phone call to me or my recruiter smacks of arrogance and callousness.
I'm a 48 year old experienced hire with a senior career behind me btw, not some wet behind the ears newbie.
Really poor and unprofessional. I doubt the company will respond to any internal feedback or this, but my advice? If you want to be treated like a commodity, then crack on. Otherwise look elsewhere.
