I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Deloitte in Nov 2011
Interview
I interviewed through on-campus recruitment. After submitting a resume, I was contacted for a behavioral interview over the phone. After that round, I was invited to do in person interviews consisting of two cases and another behavioral interview. The final round consisted of an interview with a partner.
Advice: if you are currently in school, be sure to apply on-campus...it really helps. Read everything you can get your hands on related to preparing for case interviews. I practiced by myself and took lots of notes with the small amount of time I had during the interview cycle. It helps to be somewhat comfortable with the format.
Read everything you can about the firm, and understand how you might be able to explore your interests within the firm.
The three-stage process included a case study and involved meeting several team members. Overall, it was a positive experience although the recruiter took a while to inform me about the offer.
The interview process was long and slow. Took a lot of time to connect, but was worth the effort. The interviews were good and informative, but the turn around time was high, had to wait for good 2 months to hear back
