INTERVIEWS
These are 5 things I understood they were looking for: data driven, culture fit, skill set / willingness to learn-grow, approach, flexibility.
The structure is similar all throughout whereby the interviewer gives a quick background about themselves & the interviewee does the same. The remainder of the time is focused on behavioral questions. All questions should be answered in the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Results). Use as much data as possible in your answers.
My first screening call was with the recruiting manager, we discussed the role, my background & salary expectations. Next I had a 1:1 with a hiring manager where we dug deeper into the role, my work experience & market understanding, problem solving & data mining approach.
I was then asked to complete a case study focused on a segment’s channel plan - this was specific to the role. I had about a week to complete it (I’ve heard of other occasions where the timeline is shorter). When provided with the case study I was guided on what to present on each slide: (1) opportunities & challenges, (2) competition, (3) channel strategy, (4) 60 day plan & (5) KPIs. I only submitted the presentation (didn’t present it) so all details should be in there, make sure the rationale & metrics are clear.
Simultaneously I was doing my panel interviews. I had 4 interviews on separate days with the leadership team: 2 GMs, 1 Head of Marketing & 1 legal council. One of the interviewers might be someone doing a similar role in my case it was the Head of Marketing.
One of the panel interviews was conducted completely in Arabic which is a language that is critical to the role.
QUESTIONS
Be sure to prep 3-5 questions to ask each interviewer. Use it as an opportunity to showcase your market & competitive landscape or even a deep knowledge about their business.
NEGOTIATION
After receiving the offer, I was aware well in advance that I couldn’t negotiate the salary in this specific situation. So I highlighted other areas which they were receptive to: title & equity.
