      QA Lead Interview

      19 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CultureAI (London, England) in Aug 2024

      Interview

I was contacted by the recruiter and went through the first stage interview which was just a chat with the VP of engineering. The start of the interview went well but I then felt uncomfortable as I was asked questions that were not in the job spec, this included backend automation, API, Load tesing, Pen testing etc. The role was for a Lead QA with the automation tech stack to be front end, I was not asked a single question on my leadership skills, or any frontend automation questions. I emailed the recruiter straight after the interview and was told 'what questions did he ask so we can update the job spec?'. surely thats not my job to do that? The job spec should of been communicated prior so they do not waste peoples time during the interview processes

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to share your experience. We genuinely appreciate your insights and are sorry to hear that the interview process left you feeling uncomfortable. To provide some clarity, the job specification for the Lead QA role did include experience with backend automation, API testing, and other forms of integration testing, as mentioned under "Integration Testing: Experience in testing complex system integrations with third-party cloud-based services and APIs." While the primary focus of the role is indeed on frontend automation, these additional skills are essential for the comprehensive testing approach we require. Regarding the communication, the recruiter reached out because the questions you mentioned were actually part of the job spec, particularly around backend automation and API testing. The intention was to understand which aspects you felt were different from what was outlined. However, we sincerely apologise if this request came across as inappropriate. Our goal was to gather feedback to ensure our process aligns with candidates' expectations, not to place any undue burden on you.
