I had applied online for this Corporate Development Director role at Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) through a job board like Glassdoor.
I received an email to schedule a phone interview. I was then interviewed by the recruiter over the telephone. The recruiter had assured me that he would be getting back to me with feedback within the next few days. Unfortunately, after a few weeks – despite repeated inquiries – I did not hear back anything.
Candidates (like myself) take time out of their busy work schedules to attend interviews discreetly and it is not appropriate for companies to ghost candidates who put in all that time and effort. More importantly, companies that treat candidates poorly make their brand, image, products, and people look bad.
Given that Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD)’s product is a SaaS based human capital management application, it prides itself as a “people development” company – but when they treat candidates like second-class citizens, one can only imagine how they may treat their own employees. This is a perfectly good example which illustrates that people – like job interview candidates – will keep in mind behavior that is not in accordance with professionalism and common courtesy. Today’s candidates are tomorrow’s leaders and mistreating people may have adverse consequences.
