Copper interview questions

I recently went through a five-week interview process with Copper, where one of the later stages included a large, unpaid home assignment to design a new feature for their product. I spent several days completing it and presented my work for over an hour. After that, I received no feedback and was ultimately ghosted. Given the scope of the assignment — something that would normally be paid client work — candidates should question what it signals about the company’s expectations, especially for a Staff-level role. After seeing similar patterns in their other job postings, it seems this is a common part of their pipeline and may be used to collect free ideas from multiple applicants. In my opinion, it’s unprofessional and inappropriate to require this level of uncompensated work during an interview, especially without any follow-up or acknowledgment.
