      Project Manager Interview

      14 Mar 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Flint, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Communities First (Flint, MI) in Jan 2025

      Interview

I received a virtual interview request from a recruiter a few days after applying to the position. The recruiter began the interview by informing me that they were new to their position and had been with the organization for less than 90 days, which felt like an odd disclaimer to immediately start with. Otherwise, the recruiter was very pleasant and amicable, and all questions were relatively straightforward. However, I take issue with the note the interview was left on. The recruiter made a point to state that I would receive a follow-up regardless of the outcome in 1-2 weeks. I’ve heard similar statements before given as empty promises and take them with a grain of salt. Yet, the recruiter continued even further to say that I could count on a follow-up, as they explained they weren’t “that kind” of recruiter and that they felt not only a professional but also personal/moral obligation to follow-up with any applicant. In spite of this, weeks ticked by with no follow-up, nor did I receive any response from the recruiter after reaching out. I can only assume that either the recruiter led me on with empty assurances after explicitly promising not to, or, in the spirit of their newly-hired disclaimer, the recruiter may have already had a foot out the door at the time of the interview and abruptly left. Regardless, neither explanation is a good look for a non-profit claiming to do valuable, honest work with disadvantaged populations.
