      Executive Assistant Interview

      13 Nov 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Code2College (Austin, TX) in Nov 2023

      Interview

Initial interview was an Ask Me Anything type of 30 minute call with the CEO. It was me and another prospective hire basically rapid fire questioning about the company and position. The answers were very vague. I did not expect a call back. The second interview was with the former EA, and Ops lead. They were lovely. At the end of the call the CEO jumps on and asks you to ask him questions. We already did that. It felt intimidating and like I needed to prove something to him. About three hours later I get a phone call from the CEO telling me to prove some more questions to him, and then he awkwardly welcomed to the team. I told him I had not received any form of offer letter. He said it would come in the next 5 minutes. When I did receive it, I declined it. The tone of the interviews was unpleasant and I didn't want to be a part of a culture where I was (foreshadowing) having to prove myself daily to my Boss. At the end of the day, not for me. I also can't personally afford to be in a position where I'm paid once a month.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A: Prove to me why you want this job. B. Why Code2College, why not any other non-profit. C. Tell me about how you grew up, D. The team thinks you might be a pushover. Tell me why that's not true.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Code2College (Austin, TX) in May 2025

      Interview

I had a call with a recruiter first who definitely hyped up the company and CEO. The next day had interview with the CEO. I should have read all the Glassdoor reviews first about how rude and condescending he is. He was incredibly rude and hostile and visibly rolled his eyes at me in the call and scoffed at my answers multiple times. Mind you, I am an EA in a global company with hundreds of employees compared to his noted 6 full time employees. After the interview and reading all the negative reviews I know a bullet was definitely dogged.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

He only asked one question regarding what I have done above and beyond my regular job responsibilities. He clearly did not like my answer essentially told me I was unqualified and we ended the interview.
