I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at CircleCI (Seattle, WA) in May 2025
Interview
Normal recruiter screen. Hiring mgr screen. Virtual interview loop. Executive closer. Everyone is very nice and friendly. Everyone is very technical and logical, as expected from software developers building for other developers. Getting to the final stage and then being rejected was a real let down. It is actually a signal of a poor process on their part. Their pickiest interviewers should have been earlier in the process. Two things became clear during the interviews: (1) Their value prop is more on the CD deployment side, rather than the CI testing side (2) They are behind the curve on the AI/ML/LLM stuff. Both in terms of acquiring the ML Ops market as well as applying it to their own product-service.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
No homework or presentation; all behavioral interview questions. Easy “softball” type questions for a product manager.
Complete overkill. Eight interviews. Hr should look at industry for guidance. Google, Facebook, Amazon have around 3/4 for this type of role. Should not take this amount of time and effort to make decision on candidate and whether they are suitable or not.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard questions for this type of role. Only one interviewer went down a few rabbit holes with questions not relevant to role.
