CIBC IOS Lead Developer interview questions

I applied online from LinkedIn, received an email from HR in a week. I asked HR if we can talk on the phone, so I could get a feel of things, including urgency, whom I'm interviewing with, team and other important details one could pick on the phone. Got a flat out NO, busy can't talk on the phone. I asked a few questions in the email regarding the process. I was informed the interview is with the Development Manager and technical interview. However, I met another Lead in the team. I was surprised to find out that we were doing Pair Programming. I was set up for failure because I tried to code and design the app in the fastest possible way, however, post interview through introspection I realized the expectation was to showcase design patterns and architecture. Overall very cold experience.
