I had two interviews for a Lead Designer role at Brand Brewery a while back. The first interview with two existing designers (who were very nice) went very well - so well that they asked me for a second interview with the CEO and his PA later that day. After the second interview they said they would get back to me by the end of that week. I live outside of London and we had discussed commuting 3 days a week. Before they’d contacted me about their decision, I noticed they’d reposted the job advert but had altered it to reduce the salary range by £15k and had added a caveat that said “you must live in or near London”. I couldn’t believe it and tried calling, messaging and emailing them to clarify the situation. They ignored my calls and just sent me a short email reply on the Friday late afternoon saying I’d been unsuccessful. I found this to be extremely rude and unprofessional, and judging from the majority of reviews on here about the toxic management I feel like many people feel the same way. I sensed a certain arrogance from my brief meeting with the CEO. Do they not understand that many thousands of people commute in from outside of London every day?! In the end I think they promoted internally. Anyway I wouldn’t touch this company with a barge pole. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
