I applied online, then forgot about the application for a while until I got a response. In the email, there were questions related to the position I was going for. I answered them as well as I could. Then I got called in to do an in-person interview, following a quick questions over the phone. I took time to learn about the company, and it paid-off during the in-person interview. I was able to address a few items that were very relevant. The office back then was a small loft (we're now on a full floor at Madison Ave). It had a very chill vibe.
