I'm not really speaking about the interview process, because it never happened. I sent a resume to this company in November 2018, and was contacted by them in January 2019. This was the second resume I sent to them; I had previously applied to a sales director's role (for which I am also well qualified) in December 2017, but never received a response at that time.
They had aggressively advertised for sales professionals on various job boards. Anyway, I was scheduled two weeks ago for a phone screen with their recruiter last week The morning of the interview, the recruiter emailed me and asked to reschedule the interview, saying there was some last minute all hands meeting that had just came up. Thinking that that event could happen, I agreed to a new interview for this afternoon.
This morning, the recruiter emailed me and said they filled the position internally, and I was no longer in the running. Seriously? Now, it appears to me that the supposed "all hands" was just a ruse to delay while they were talking to their internal candidate. Surely they had identified this person, and were probably just waiting for a decision. And why cancel my SECOND attempt at an interview last minute, if they already knew they were filling this role?
In this current job search (which has now lasted over a year), I've had some pretty messed up things happen to me. This is another incident which gets added to the list. If they're so inclined, and rude enough to waste candidates' valuable time, what kind of workplace could the company be?
Their Glassdoor reviews are fairly average, but take heed of this interview synopsis, and their negative reviews. Maybe those are more indicative of the truth than not. This was a total waste of time.
