I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Backbase in Jul 2019
Interview
Round 1: This was an HR discussion via Skype. She asked basic HR related question. After this discussion, in a mail, she informed that my profile will be taken ahead with another recruiter. I got a call from the new recruiter who asked me for scheduling the first technical discussion with an architect.
Round 2: Technical discussion with the architect was easy and straightforward and he asked me basic questions related to my projects and iOS. I cleared this round and was forwarded to the technical assignment round.
Round 3: This was an assignment to assess my DS and iOS skills. I dedicated my full 3-4 days to complete the assignment. I used best data structure possible and applied all standard design practices available to make sure that I provide them the best solution possible. I cleared this round also and was forwarded to another technical round.
Round 4: In this round I again talked to the same architect and another iOS developer. This round focussed on my designing and software development skills along with a brief discussion on the technical assignment. The discussion was smooth, I cleared this and was forwarded to discussion with hiring managers.
Round 5: I spoke to 2 hiring managers. It was focussed on my product understanding, what values can I add to the Backbase products. It was a detailed discussion and the managers looked pretty convinced from all my answers. The discussion nothing less that perfect and it was so good that even before the result I was kind of sure that I am through with this interview as well.
BUT, to my ultimate shock, after 2 days the HR called me and started with asking how did I feel about the interviews so far. I told him that I think I have fared pretty well so far and in the last 2 discussion also I believe I have done good with technical panel and hiring managers.
He told: "Yes, even the panel is satisfied with you skills but they also have left a side note that "You Speak English Very Fast" and hence we can't continue with your candidature."
I was so so so SHOCKED with this feedback. With a company like Backbase (which claims to be an MNC and have an office in the US) how can "fast" English speaking be a problem. And even if it is, they could have indicate the same since the first discussion and I would have definitely taken care of this. What was the point of simply wasting my 2 months of efforts?
After-all, I think it was not at all a justified reason of my rejection. My friends and ex-colleagues working in Netherlands told me that its the weirdest rejection feedback they have heard about and it might not be true also. In reality they would have got some local candidate which they preferred to go ahead with (I needed Visa sponsorship and relocation support) or the position might have been closed during these 2 months.
Even till this day I am disappointed, shocked and frustrated mainly because I spent a lot of my sincere efforts and time in the recruitment process which ended with a bizarre feedback.
I applied online. I interviewed at Backbase (Amsterdam) in Apr 2024
Interview
There were several steps: an interview with a recruiter, a technical assignment which takes around 8 hours to fulfill, a tech interview and finally a culture fit interview with future manager.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Backbase (Amsterdam) in Jan 2022
Interview
Interview process was quick it took about 3 weeks
had lovely chat with one of the recruiters and he told me about the company and the all benefits that company provides to its employees. Also mentioned some of the calibre of colleges I'll get the chance to work with :). In terms of iOS this was some of the best and well known names in our field.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Backbase (Curitiba) in May 2021
Interview
Pretty straightforward. I had an initial talk with someone from the hiring team, we talked about the role and my personal goals.
After that I believe we had an extra call, a technical assignment, a technical call and then finally a final call. The whole process took about 2-3 weeks. They were pretty transparent the whole time.
