1. I received an email on which a Skype video call was scheduled with a recruiter. This call was basically to know me and my background, my communication in English (not my 1st language) and my reasons to work at Backbase and relocate to Amsterdam.
2. I was told I'd move to step 2 which was a code assignment, to complete and deliver in a timespan of 48h (I could choose when to receive it and start and I've chosen to do it right away). It was directly related to my position. It was made clear that seeing my progress evolution was very important, therefore using version control (Git) was required. Done it all on Friday.
3. Next Monday I found it was approved by an Engineer. A Skype call was set with a Senior Engineer, this was meant to be a technical call and we would also talk about what I've done in the previous step.
4. 3 days later we had the call. I was a bit nervous, expecting the whiteboard kind of interview, surprisingly, it was a very immersive conversation about software development and standards, conventions, meant to test my knowledge in a day to day work.
5. Next interview took place 3 days after that with a Project Owner. It was about my background, my understanding of the job and what would be required from me. He explained how does the team work, what is the day to day of developers in different teams, etc.
6. 2 working days later I was invited to the last interview process, onsite. 1 more day later I received the full agenda and a confirmation on dates (the onsite step would take place around 9 days later).
7. I arrived in Amsterdam around on Thursday, with the interviews set to start on Friday at 12:00. (The company's HQ was just 5 min away from the hotel by walk)
7.1. First I met the recruiter, which showed me the facilities and had a nice conversation in the office.
7.2. I was taken to a room where all the other meetings would happen. Soon after, a Project Owner arrives and we had a nice conversation. This was very similar to step 5, however there was another project owner.
7.3. The next meeting was with 2 members of the team (in leadership positions) whom I'd be closely working with, both were really fun and making questions about my background and details regarding my skills, if the differences between my last positions and working in the fintech industry would affect my excitement. Many interesting questions.
7.4. Last meeting was with a Development Manager. Besides the similar questions to double check my answers and get to know me himself, it was all about my behaviour, how I feel and react to certain circumstances - with examples from the past if that was the case.
I went back home on the next day (Saturday) and found out they would like to have me onboard on Monday.
