I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at BMC Software (Vancouver, BC) in Jan 2015
Interview
This company was apparently growing very quickly in the Vancouver area so they had set up an exclusive networking event for selected potential candidates for all the exciting positions they were hiring for. Of course, having been selected to attend a special networking event must make anyone feel quite special. I, like everyone else had the opportunity to socialize, and get to know the employees, recruiters there on a more personal basis. But something made me feel a bit off- the fact that there were like a few other potential candidates there, and MULTIPLE job postings for this position on many sites MANY weeks before the event, and even AFTER, made me think this this was just probably a waste of time.
I did get in touch with the recruiter and get a phone interview. I made attempts to follow up but didn't get a response. After sending a second email, I heard back a week later only to find out that they were in the 'process' of getting back to me, promising to be in touch. By this time an entire month had passed and they were STILL making new postings. I already had low expectations. I didn't hear back at all. This was just a waste of my time.
If you're going to make an exclusive networking event, make it exclusive, don't beat around the bush
