      Interview

This company has taken unprofessionalism to another level. They made an offer, but did not send the written version (quite shady), they lowballed pretty badly so I asked whether they would consider offering a base at the higher end or slightly above the range they had originally posted (less than 10% higher than the offer) and showed them the current median and range in the market (40% higher) as reference. This is standard negotiation. The HR immediately got very disrespectful, telling me to go work elsewhere. She used pay equity as an excuse even though there is nobody else operating at this level and scope on the team. I am not sure why underpayment to other employees and mismanagement of titles and salary range is shared with a candidate during negotiations? The norm is for the HR to come back with a final offer and/or adjusted title, so I asked her to circle back with the highest number they were willing to match. She emailed and rescinded the offer before EOD. Overall, the level of disrespect and dishonesty shown during the process was astonishing. If you interview here ( especially if you are a person of color) make sure you do not discuss anything before the written offer is sent, and respond only in writing. A company that rescinds offers can and should be held legally liable for wrongful termination.
