      Business Development Manager Interview

      9 Nov 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Audible (London, England) in Nov 2012

      Interview

Had a screening call initially which was short but went well. I was then invited to attend an afternoon of interviews, five in total, with different people within the company. I was impressed with all of the people i met , they were confident and knowledgeable in their areas. I was most surprised by the types of questions I had. They appeared to be formulaic and standard questions that i assumed all candidates were asked and it proved difficult to move the discussion to a more conversational format. Every question focused on showing examples of past experience ie - 'tell me about a time when' and there was little opportunity to talk about my ideas for the role. I also found myself repeating myself to each interviewer as the day went on. It was incredibly tiring and i felt like i'd gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson by the time I came out, so I'm not sure i gave the best portrayal of myself or my ability to perform the role well. However, the system obviously works for the company as they have some good people working there and maybe they have more mettle and staying power than I.
