I recently interviewed with Altercall for the position of a Fullstack developer and i was moved to the next step which is a technical assessment involving the development of an meal and fitness recommendation app using Next.js, AWS, and GPT-4 for AI recommendations. The interview process consisted of multiple stages, including a technical assessment and interviews with the team and CTO.
Initially, I was excited about the opportunity and dedicated a considerable amount of time and effort to complete the assessment. Despite the sleepless nights, I successfully passed the assessment and moved on to the next stages.
The technical interview with the team went smoothly, and I felt confident about my performance. Likewise, the final interview with the CTO was a pleasant and engaging discussion. Throughout the process, there was consistent communication, and I received positive feedback from the team.
However, my enthusiasm quickly turned into disappointment when the communication abruptly ceased after the final interview. Despite being assured that I would receive feedback and a response within a reasonable timeframe, weeks passed without any updates.
I followed up with the R&D Associate contact, whom I had been communicating with throughout the process, but received no response. I even reached out to the CTO and the Lead Infrastructure Engineer, but unfortunately, my efforts were met with silence.
This lack of communication and follow-up left me feeling disheartened and undervalued as a candidate. I had invested a significant amount of energy and effort into the interview process, only to be left in the dark without any closure.
While I understand that not every candidate may be the right fit for a role, the least that can be expected is clear and timely communication regarding the outcome of the interview process. Unfortunately, my experience with Altercall fell short in this regard.
I hope that by sharing my experience, the company can take steps to improve their communication practices and provide better support to candidates throughout the hiring process.
