      Recruiter Interview

      15 Jan 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Airgas

      Interview

I had an initial phone screen and then I was invited to interview with the HR Director and HR VP. All interviews went very well (and they even told me this). However, they failed at letting me know that I didn't get selected. I think it's very unprofessional to leave candidates hanging. This says a lot about how they must treat their own employees, if they treat candidates like this. I wouldn't want to work for a company like this and I will never interview with Airgas again in the future. Plus, I don't think it's exciting to recruit truck drivers and they seem to have issues with retaining them. Seems like a headache!

      Interview

Profile test sent and then called for phone interview that lasted over an hour long. Soft ball questions that seemed a little odd coming from HR people. I have my reservations about this place.

      Recruiter Interview

      10 Dec 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kennesaw, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Airgas (Kennesaw, GA) in Feb 2013

      Interview

I Interviewed many years ago as the processes may have changed since then. Step 1. Applied online for entry to a mid-level recruiting role and received an email a few days later from the HR manager regarding a phone interview. Step 2. During our phone IV, the HR manager asked fundamental questions about my background and experience. Step 3. Was invited to onsite IV and given an assignment requesting me to complete a 19 or 20 bullet point outline for a recruiting process regarding what questions a recruiter should ask an applicant that applies to be a CDL AirGas driver. The assignment to be completed before the onsite IV. Step 4. The onsite where everything went downhill! I called ahead to let the manager know that I had a flat tire and would be running 15-20 minutes behind. I asked if we should reschedule and she said no, and see you soon. I arrived 15 minutes late, signed in and waiting for 10 minutes. The hiring manager introduced herself, and I immediately apologized for being late. She didn't say anything and proceeded to escort me into a room with 6-7 recruiters. It was a very uptight, stuffy boardroom style interview. I wasn't sure if I was interviewing for an executive or entry-level recruiting position. The interview style was overkill for the job. The manager asked the same type of questions and worded them differently each time and interrupted me with another question every time i tried to answer her. I thought that was incredibly unprofessional and rude. The recruiters ask “where do you see yourself in how many years" type questions. It seemed nobody wanted to be there; the hiring manager looked detached from the interview and annoyed with a very unfriendly disposition. The manager was very arrogant and didn't like my outline as she thought it was average at best. I obviously didn't get the job which was a blessing! This type of interview style will not render the best results when trying to hire top talent. I have since gone on to recruit for the best companies in the world like Amazon, Microsoft and now I'm recruiting for Facebook! Looking back, I wish I had walked out of the interview, but I was desperate to get out of a bad situation with my then employer. To anyone reading this, an interview is a two way street between candidate and employer, if your gut is saying this isn't the job for you, listen to it and run! You can do better!
