After a 30min talk with the HR recruiter, they asked for an exercise completed saying it should be completed within 2 hours. I was slightly surprised that they were asking for a case study even though I hadn't met a hiring manger. In hindsight this is a red flag I should have acknowledged. However, after I completed the exercise as quickly as possible, it took no less than 4 hours. I received no response after a week and had to follow up twice in order to receive a response. I received a very confused response saying I hadn't attached an exercise. I had in fact attached the exercise but she had forgotten to forward it to the hiring manager. After chasing a follow up for another week I then received a very obviously automated reply saying they were looking for a candidate with more experience. Very frustrating and both process and person had no respect for my time.

I applied online. I interviewed at Aikido Security (Ghent) in Feb 2026
Interview
I found the vibe very bizarre and was left with a weird feeling after meeting the recruiter. It’s hard to explain, but basically this was not a conversation or a way to better know the candidate, and find out if we align, but rather a way to qualify/disqualify quickly.
That’s such a bad first impression. I was glad it didn’t go further because I was already very disappointed and that first interview was a massive red flag.
For example, The job is remote and straight away, even before introducing each other, the recruiter asked where I was based. I mean the info is in my cv, but I thought « ok, rude ».
With questions like « on a scale from 0-10 how technical are you », « what do people find difficult working with you », and very quickly a question about « how late I can work ». I mean, we work in sales so obviously we have high pressure and busier periods from time to time. But if you want to know if I will accept to be your slave… the answer is no. Overall the solution seem great, but that interview was so off.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Aikido Security (London, England)
Interview
Probably the most bizarre interview I've had in my sales career. The recruiter contacted me via LinkedIn.
During the call, he told me that the role was very demanding and that all Aikido employees worked until 10 p.m. every day, including weekends.
I told them that they wouldn't find an account executive with years of experience if that was the case, because I believe that success comes from experience and good organisation.
The recruiter then told me that I wasn't right for the job.
I told him that his employees working at that pace would end up at the doctor's office :D
