I recently went through an interview process with AHAM for a back end developer position, and unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed and frustrated. I would like to share my experience to shed light on the issues I encountered during the process. First Stage - Take Home Test: The interview process began with a take-home test, which was initially appropriate for a back end developer role. However, it became apparent during the second stage that my application was converted to a front end developer position without any prior notification or explanation. This sudden shift in the evaluation criteria was confusing and unexpected. Second Stage - Interview: During the interview, I encountered a lack of understanding from one of the younger interviewers regarding my background. Despite my clear emphasis on being a full stack developer, this particular interviewer focused solely on front end concepts and technical questions. This approach was bewildering, especially considering that I had already completed a take-home test that should have assessed my back end skills. Furthermore, the interviewer even asked why I had applied for a front end position if my background was in back end development. This question demonstrated a lack of awareness on their part, as it was the company's decision to convert my application to a different role without my knowledge or consent. Ghosted by Interviewers: To add to the disappointment, after the interview, I was completely ghosted by the interviewers and the company. I understand that not all candidates can be accepted, but it is unprofessional and disrespectful to leave candidates in the dark without any communication or updates on the status of their application. This lack of follow-up left me feeling undervalued as a candidate and was an overall poor reflection on the company's hiring process. In conclusion, my experience with AHAM interview process was disheartening and frustrating. The miscommunication regarding the change in the role, the inadequate evaluation of my skills, and the subsequent ghosting have left a lasting negative impression. I hope that sharing this feedback will prompt the company to review and improve its interview process to ensure a more transparent and respectful experience for all candidates.
