I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Aerotek (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2013
Interview
I applied online and within a week received an email from a recruiter to schedule a phone screen. The screen was short, with obvious questions (why sales?) and lots of friendly talking. They really want to establish that you preform well over the phone, because the job entails lots of calling. From there, she scheduled a meeting with the Director of the office I was interviewing for. He and I met the following day and had an intensive hour-long behavioral interview. The questions were difficult (why do you do what you do? what motivates you? people come in here wanting to set the world on fire all the time--what makes you different?) but by the end of the interview I felt that he had really gotten to know me as a candidate, not just a resume. He then shared his story and why he liked Aerotek.
From there, he invited me in for a full-day interview. That started with an interview with two Account Managers, which involved more behavioral questions. That took about an hour and a half. The rest of the day was spent shadowing various positions and recruiters to really learn how the daily life of a recruiter works. It was very very interesting and made me love the company. The staff members spoke to me as if I had already received an offer ("If you accept, you'll learn this in training") and even at one point openly told me every candidate in the past five years who had gotten a full-day got an offer. This clearly got my hopes up. The day ended with a wrap-up with the Director and a promise to let me know soon.
He emailed me four days later saying he would call to follow-up that day. In the evening, he called and we had a five minute conversation on how great I was, how successful I would be, but that I would not be receiving an offer. I think the entire interview process was very positive, but I was really creeped out by how they handled the rejection. I'd prefer a form email letting me know they had moved on, not an awkward conversation he was clearly putting off all day. I would recommend somebody apply for Aerotek, but just take everything they say with a grain of salt. I was certainly caught off guard.
The interview process was quick. Lasting around 15 minutes. There are several interviews that you will go through. They will do an initial interview with the director. Then you will get scheduled for a follow up. This is where you meet the other recruiters and account managers. They will walk you around the office and have you shadow some of the recruiters.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What motivates you?
What’s your “why”?
Are you a go-getter?
Average difficulty covering standard interview questions. Phone screen followed by an in-person interview. Phone screen was received quickly after resume submission; in-person was with their head recruiter and then followed by one with their manager.
Phone screening call with the recruiter giving me information about the job, then another virtual call interview more in depth to ask me more questions. The final interview is in person in their office.
