      Grocery/Chilled Colleague Interview

      3 Sept 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Doncaster, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ASDA (Doncaster, England) in Aug 2015

      Interview

Applied online and was invited to the Asda Magic Assessment Event in Doncaster, the Event consisted of an Ice Breaker exercise with the Person sitting next to you, being shown an informative video showing what it is like to work for Asda,we were then split into 2 groups of 4 and needed to produce an advert to sell a product and then perform it to the other group and Assessors who were Section Leaders. We were then split into different groups and taken downstairs on the Shop floor taking part in 'Have a Go' where we were shown aspects of the job and given the chance to talk to Customers and do Shelf filling. Afterwards we were taken back upstairs for a short informal Interview with one of the Assessors. I received an Email today saying that I had been a 'Silver Medallist' whereby they were pleased with my attitude and performance and wanted to offer me a position but hadn't got anything available at the moment which matched my requirements so would be kept on file for 6 months and if a position arose I wouldn't need to attend another interview or Assesment, would just be rung to discuss the Position. The Pro's of the Event is that it is an enjoyable insight into the role. You are marked and observed on how you interact with people so you need to be friendly, talkative and willing to be active in the group activity. The downside I felt was that at times it was hard making my opinions heard in the Group activity as one of the Participants clearly made Herself the Leader and main Spokesperson and only wanted her own views heard and chosen so as a result the Group advert seemed like 4 separate performances and you need to be able to but in a little. Also I felt that once the Group activity was over the Assessors had already chosen people for the role, and that we were grouped for the 'Have a Go' activity according to this, as the more opiniated people seemed to be in one group and the quieter people in another. Overall I enjoyed the experience and hope I will be offered a position soon. Have anyone else had a 'Silver Medallist' outcome and been offered a position within the 6 months??
