      Backend Java Engineer Interview

      13 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at ARQ in Feb 2022

      Interview

Applied through LinkedIn and was contacted by recruiter a week after. Only heard from them again after a month and was scheduled for a technical interview. Technical interview felt like a certification exam, I mostly did the talking as the interviewer asked generic questions where you enumerate and explain the concept behind each item. I wasn't allowed to voice out my thought process as I was interrupted when I try to explain first before I gave out the key answer to the question. The phone call setting on the other end was distracting as well, I was being interviewed over the phone, the video was on and I could see how uninterested the interviewer is, adding to that was the awkwardness I felt talking to half of his face. I just did my best to stay polite until the very end. I haven't heard from them ever since.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Explain design concepts. What is the difference between Git and SVN? How do you deploy applications in AWS? What's the use of static keyword in Java? What are the new features in Java 8? Give examples on how they're being used
