Pros
* Close to home
* Free meals at work
* Flexible schedule
Cons
* Under Market pay - when inflation went up 8-10% in the past year, I got a 4% raise (good performance).
* Can never advance at a unit level unless someone leaves a job, or if you want to move to a different unit. Also, I don't qualify for higher level lateral moves in corporate because when I was hired, my title was set to a more entry level job, even though I have 25 years experience. It would be up to the client to give me a promotion, and honestly, I don't think my boss cares enough to advocate for me.
* Because the pay rates are so low, I get to hire bottom-of-the-barrel employees who will work for cheap. I literally spend most of my time trying to get them to actually do work.
* Higher level management apparently have an alliance so they pat each other on the back all the time but don't extend that appreciation to the people actually doing the work.
* I get kudos all the time from my regional team but somehow my manager and her boss don't hear it
