With the banking industry digitalising at a dizzying pace, do values like trust and integrity still matter? If deep-seated differences continue to divide the US and China, should that change how we view the growth potential of China’s Greater Bay Area? Our Group CEO Samuel Tsien shared his thoughts on these questions and more on CNA’s new morning show, Asia First, earlier this week. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM54G

Is “strawberry generation” a justified label for millennials? Data from our inaugural annual FRANKly Asked Questions survey revealed the majority of Singapore millennials prefer gaining life experiences over having power or being famous. We will continue to track four psychographic variables of millennials - values, attitudes, interests and desired experiences - to enable us to continue to develop the most holistic and integrated banking programme for millennials in Singapore today – FRANK by OCBC.

While the banking industry is evolving rapidly due to technological advancements and changing customers expectations, our commitment to our core values of trust and integrity has not changed throughout our 87-year history. Our newly-formed Ethics and Conduct Board Committee will ensure that honesty and integrity continue to anchor the way we conduct our business, so we can remain worthy of our customers’ trust.
How do you make your lunch time count? In 2018, 800 OCBC volunteers spent their lunch break with 560 elderly persons. Partnering seniors from AWWA, Care Corner and Thye Hua Kwan, they painted, sang, danced, prepared food and played memory games – simple ways of reducing the risk of dementia. As a result, the seniors had the chance to leave their homes, talk to someone and have fun through activities that keep them physically and mentally active. How about spending an hour of your lunch time with a lonely elderly person? Being in contact with a fellow human being may mean a lot to him or her – compared to staying alone at home all week.
