Last month we had a pleasure of hosting almost 90 parents and grandparents of our Team Nokia in Wrocław, Poland. It was one-of-a-kind opportunity to familiarize them with Nokia Poland’s daily work. 👩 👨 Our special guests started their visit with a presentation from which they could learn more about the history of our company and its innovations. Then, they had a chance to visit the place where their loved ones work. The highlight of the tour was the visit to our laboratory, where they saw the equipment behind our projects in real life. 👨💻 We wrapped out the event with fun quiz session, some time for the integration and small gifts to remember the day. 🎁 We are grateful for everyone engaged in preparation of this visit.
February was a very fruitful time for the whole Team Nokia. ✨ Nokia India hosted a successful Kubernetes Bangalore Meetup with nearly 120 participants. Everyone who joined had the chance to connect with experts. 💻📱️💬 Nokia UK took part in a tree-planting activity, contributing to environmental sustainability. 🌳🌍 Together with Nokia Shanghai Bell Philippines, we visited Eastern Visayas State University, where we engaged with students on customer experience research. 🧑🎓 Nokia China held an event to celebrate the traditional welcoming of the New Year. Everyone was invited to express their heartfelt wishes through calligraphy. 🎉✍️ Throughout February, we also honored the achievements of the African American community. 👩🏿👨🏿 We sat down with several employees to discuss how the ABLE ERG supports them. 26 February: Nokia is making history and is on the way to the Moon! 🌕 The Intuitive Machines Athena lander, carrying Nokia’s Lunar Surface Communications System (LSCS), successfully launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. For the first time ever, Nokia will be deploying a cellular network on the Moon. This revolutionary system, pioneered by Nokia Bell Labs, will connect Athena and two lunar mobility vehicles, Lunar Outpost’s MAPP rover and Intuitive Machines’ Micro Nova Hopper, proving that the same technology connecting billions of devices on Earth can enable critical communications in space. Recently, WiSTEM Ottawa hosted an inspiring networking event at the Nokia Ottawa campus, bringing together over 65 attendees for a day of mentorship and connection! 🙌 Female high school students had the incredible opportunity to engage in four speed mentoring rounds with STEM professionals & university students, gaining valuable insights into diverse career paths. 🎤 A huge thank you to our amazing speakers from Team Nokia, and many other industry experts who shared their journeys! 👏 Shoutout to the WiSTEM Ottawa organizing team for making this event a success!
Recently Nokia announced a leadership transition with Pekka Lundmark deciding to step down as President and CEO on March 31 and handing over to Justin Hotard to lead Nokia. Pekka will stay on as an advisor until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. “Leading Nokia has been a privilege. When I returned to Nokia in 2020, I called it a homecoming, and it really has felt like one. I am proud of the work our brilliant team has done in re-establishing our technology leadership and competitiveness, and positioning the company for growth in data centers, private wireless and industrial edge, and defense. This is the right time for me to move on. I have led listed companies for more than two decades and although I do not plan to stop working, I want to move on from executive roles to work in a different capacity, such as a board professional. Justin is a great choice for Nokia and I look forward to working with him on a smooth transition,” said Nokia’s President and CEO Pekka Lundmark. “I am honored by the opportunity to lead Nokia, a global leader in connectivity with a unique heritage in technology. At the end of last year, during the HISPA December Toy Drive, Nokia employees participated in organizing gifts for the little ones. 🧸 Over 140 children received presents, creating unforgettable holiday memories. Thank you to everyone who took part in this event and donated. 👏
Recently, #NokiaTurkiye hosted an amazing Art Workshop, and the Enjoy My Job Team joined in for some creative fun! They focused on painting shopping bags, and the Nokian Ladies did an incredible job. The Women of IT Conference organized by #NokiaPoland was truly a spectacular event. 🎊 This one of the biggest annual events powered by Nokia, aims at promoting education and careers in IT among women who are just entering the labor market as well as those looking to change their career path. 👩🏾👩🏼 💻 The conference hall was filled with participants eager to listen to inspiring speeches from the speakers and broaden their knowledge. The event featured amazing experts, including the Ambassador of Finland to Poland, Päivi Laine. We celebrated One Nokia Day together at #NokiaSingapore. 🥳 This unforgettable and exciting day truly reflected the open and fearless spirit of #TeamNokia, with over 100 participants joining the event. We had a fantastic time during the icebreaker games, tackling challenges together and creating flexible solutions. 🤝 The event was a testament to how teamwork and mutual respect can overcome any uncertainty.
