The Kenco community is spreading holiday cheer once again with our cherished Salvation Army, Angel Tree tradition! Every year, our incredible Kenco stars come together to ensure families in our surrounding communities experience a magical Christmas. Thanks to their generosity and giving spirit, we proudly provided gifts for 60 children and 15 seniors this year. Kenco was a sponsor of the 2024 United for Working Families Summit hosted by the United Way of Greater Chattanooga on Tuesday, August 27. The annual event brings together business leaders, non-profit organizations and thought leaders to discuss the needs of today’s workers and the family-friendly policies, practices and benefits to support and retain them. JUNETEENTH: Juneteenth, observed on June 19th, is the oldest internationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. This significant day dates back to 1865 when Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, arrived in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the Civil War had ended and the enslaved were now free. This event occurred two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln's emancipation proclamation had become official on January 1, 1863.
