JCPenney to Hire More Than 10,000 Associates this Holiday Season, Bringing More Holiday to Every Store
JCPenney presented a fashion show highlighting back-to-school and fall looks for the whole family, featuring styles from our portfolio of beloved national and private brands including the 2024 Hope & Wonder Hispanic Heritage Month collection, Wrangler, Worthington, Ryegrass, Arizona and more. Latinitas employees, program participants, parents and volunteers, as well as Austin City Council Member José Velásquez, served as the models, and JCPenney Beauty and Salon associates provided hair and makeup services for the event. The fifty models and volunteers were all treated to a healthy and hearty complimentary meal courtesy of Sweet Green. John-Carlos Estrada of CBS Austin and Salwa Yordi of Farandula Texas emceed the event. In addition to the fashion show, the event featured performances by DJ Orion of Peligrosa, Mariachi Las Coronelas, Roy Lozano Ballet Folklorico de Texas, Tusuy Sonqo-Peru Folk Dance Group, and Danzas Venezuela Austin. With their ticket, attendees received a selection of beauty products courtesy of JCPenney Beauty, JCPenney CashPasses, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres provided by Suculenta Cocina Mexicana. Plus, one lucky winner was selected in a drawing to receive a $500 JCPenney gift card. A group of 21 executive assistants from the home office volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) on April 30. On average, one volunteer produces $63 worth of food in one packing session, which can feed a child for seven months. FMSC relies on the generosity of volunteers to feed kids and empower communities.

On Friday, April 5, JCPenney celebrated 50 years in Wayne, NJ and unveiled its new anchor store at Willowbrook Mall. The grand reopening saw over 500 customers who received thousands of dollars’ worth of gift cards. A few lucky shoppers went home with a diamond necklace, full size Olaplex products, JLo perfume and more. “Today’s grand opening is a continuation of JCPenney’s 50-year presence in the heart of this community and we’re so happy to enter this new chapter of our story in this town,” said Missy Ioanna, JCPenney District Manager over the Wayne location. “Willowbrook Mall is a thriving retail center, and we’re honored to join our neighbors in calling this space home.” Special guests from the community joined JCPenney associates and customers for the celebration, including New Jersey State Senator Kristin Corrado, Business Administrator for the City of Wayne Christopher J. Tietjen, Wayne Township Council President Jason DeStefano, Melanie Holmes from the office of Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill and President of the New Jersey Retail Association John Holub. Gina Radice from the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest New Jersey was also in attendance to accept a donation of $11,250 for the local chapter and Ryan Hidalgo, senior general manager of Willowbrook Mall gave a few words on behalf of Brookfield Properties.

In honor of #MLKDay, more than 50 #DFW area associates gathered on January 11 for a day of service at the North Texas Food Bank, helping to pack produce that would be included in over 35,000 meals for children, older adults and families in the North Texas community. The North Texas Food Bank is part of the Feeding America network, and associates across the country are encouraged to #MakeItCount in their communities by volunteering at a local food bank this week through Feeding America’s network.
