Pros

Slow moving, optimized to be a cost leader. If you understand what the business really is, then it could be embraced and taken full on into a very nice company.

Cons

Upper management is no more than a good 'old boys club. There is a big disparity between them and the rest of the company which they generally treat a replaceable. Very little to no management training leads to very submissive lower-level managers that don't question ethical issues or even speak up about them. They have very little concisience when it comes to their employees and will use them for what they need and then move one. An example of that is how they treated the heroic efforts of Thai employees after the flooding only to move everything to Vietnam since it could be cheaper. The biggest challenge is they have some sort of delusional dreams of playing like a real innovative technology firm. Which they are not, because they are not set up or funded that way. That is not their business model. They are a low-cost manufacturing company that is "cash cowing existing IP" and only minimally funding new IP development while stretching everyone they can by eliminating jobs and giving them to less individuals (role players) until they break down. They act like there will be future opportunities but it really is limited and most good talent figure that out soon enough and move one. The company is stagnant with management and leadership growth (good 'ol boys especially are happy and take care of each other) and wants to maintain other employees as limited role players as long as they can convince them to stay whether by fear or obscurity. Many employees are too afraid to speak up for fear of retribution. Company surveys are not sincerely listened to when it comes to real issues, especially with management decisions and actions.

Pros

No pros that stands out, CEO tries to increase the valuation of the company to sell it (it looks like that) so you might get some benefits from that (though unlikely). Will be good financially for next ~6 months as they cut more and more RnD and will just get money from producing legacy stuff

Cons

Company that pretends to be ethical and pretends to care about employees that in fact just cares about numbers on the sheet and will mercilessly lay off people and close viable projects. As an employee be ready to be a part of slow moving (sometimes even dysfunctional) company with compensation and benefits below average. Senior management only cares about numbers and outlook to try to sell the company in the future. In many cases senior management does ridiculous things since they don't fully understand what they're doing. Does not care about employees at all, company loyalty is not valued at all. Be prepare to be laid off with bare minimum severance and no bonuses, RSUs, nothing. Senior management that is incompetent will be glad to lay off people for cheap, though they will tell everyone how "ethical" they are and how they care about people to find their new "home".

Pros

Discretionary time off is nice, but the system is flawed and you’ll notice your wealthier coworkers taking months off in a year while those who make less are stuck. Kinda makes me wish PTO was a thing here.

Cons

Horrific leadership, from the CEO down to mid level managers Constant layoffs- time and loyalty with the company mean nothing. If onsemi can save a few dollars, they’ll go ahead lay off a bunch of seasoned workers Weird double standard of being forced in office at HQ and not having that be the case anywhere else. The open office setup is horrible too Bogus appraisal system which ensures if the company’s performance is even somewhat low, you can bet you won’t get any pay increase Extremely toxic environment spread by managers who are allowed to run their mouths and cause problems as they please with no consequences. Feels like a bit of a dictatorship sometimes Growth opportunities are virtually non existent in many business roles Work life balance is horrible. No one tells you coming in about all the early morning and late evening meetings you get stuck on (especially in supply chain)
