Pros

The opportunity to grab a substantial market share of the worldwide commercial food solutions market holds immense potential for the enterprise. Doing this well out of the gate would put the organization on the talent destination map in reality. If you find yourself in a positive micro-culture within the broader organization, there is genuine support, opportunity, and recognition.

Cons

The company is attempting to play in a 21st-century world with leadership, strategy, and culture that had its heyday in the 1980s. Any real leadership authority and influence is largely confined to 30+ years-tenured legacy-institution India-native males who continue to operate in their own self-congratulatory bubble. Female representation at the top-level leadership for each of regions and P&L ownership of the businesses is practically non-existent. Despite doubling down on the most complex matrixed organizational structure ever, real strategic alignment remains a mythical unicorn. Those offering better ways of working or even calling out risks – based on years of leadership-level success elsewhere – are politely ghosted at best and overtly isolated and eventually pushed out at worst. The company’s inability after 2.5 years to move forward with its IPO is indicative of its hard-wired internal challenges, but also its shield preventing broader external exposure of its current state.

Pros

ofi has found a strong angle within the Private Label industry that will likely result in a strong presence on-shelf with major retailers.

Cons

Ofi is making a 3-egg omelette by standing with their back to the stove and throwing 120 eggs over their shoulder. Eventually, they will be able to turn around, look at their pan and excitedly claim success while ignoring the 117-egg mess that they've created in the process. There are very clear reasons why this company's IPO has continued to push back from the December 2021 date that was once so proudly expressed. This company's leadership unfortunately defaults directly to blame-centric communications whenever faced with adversity. Managerial teams are a turnstile of legacy employees cycling between categories & functions, without devoting the time and energy to building an understanding of their people or the details that are hindering their teams (lack of articulated nor aligned strategies, lack of process, lack of ability to prioritize, lack of ability to constructively criticize and grow). The ofi entity is a byproduct of 20+ acquisitions of North American CPG companies in the cocoa, coffee, dairy, nuts & spices industry taking place over the span of approximately 6 years. The companies have been acquired, but no connective tissue has been constructed. Corporate leadership is spread too thinly to truly be successful and the result are temperamental yes-men (leadership is particularly male-dominated) who default to saving face as opposed to taking challenges on. A small example of the lack of culture and direction is evidenced clearly by the 100% in-office policies dictated to all of the satellite facilities which have been acquired, while the HQ office in Fresno operates on a hybrid schedule available to all employees based there. The company motto 'make it real' reads well on a coffee mug, but is more accurate in describing how every project, problem or strategy is approached - shoot first, aim later, don't challenge the direction provided by your superiors and don't provide any excuses for why the target was missed, just accept the criticism.

Pros

Salary and benefits. Opportunity for advancement

Cons

Indecisive management. Will ask you to urgently do something one day, then yell at you the next day for wasting you time on it. HR has no control of the culture and does not know how to do their jobs. Someone I worked with was let go because a subordinate made up a bunch of lies about them. They didn't even give that person a chance to address the claims. In addition, there are toxic people who do not possess the skillsets to do there jobs, so they spend there time trying to steal work from colleagues or trying to use defamation of others who are excelling. My complaints have long gone unanswered from the head of HR. They have grown too fast to try to establish a culture and social norms. Also, a lot of older men who don't knw what they are doing but are grandfathered into high paying roles because they have been around forever. Terrible work - life balance. Most people get burned out and quit - really high turnover. Women are not respected and they have only recently started hiring women in leadership roles. Basically a bunch of middle-aged to older men who have no idea what they are doing.
