Restructuring + poor management & turnover = move on

Pros

- Co workers are great and parking is free

Cons

Since immixGroup was bought by Arrow Electronics nearly two years ago, the norm has been poor decision making and cutbacks. "Restructuring"(lay offs) coupled with uncertainty and poor management have lowered morale and continue to fuel turnover. You're hired for one job, but are expected to do two: your Arrow job and your immixGroup job. If anyone leaves our team, we're left to pick up the pieces and are lucky if we get approval for a backfill.

Pros

-Great people to work with -Parking provided -Networking opportunity -Free tea, coffee, and soda -Provides a solid foundation for a career in the federal IT industry

Cons

-High turnover, especially on the sales floor -Culture and environment has turned sour after being acquired -Limited employee recognition -Lower end of the pay scale -Benefits are not as great as a lot of the competition -Company has become a cold, number-centric machine. Example: The HR department has been let go and has been replaced by a cloud sourced ticketing system. Speaking to HR now consists of submitting a help desk ticket or navigating through a 15 minute maze of automated phone prompts before being placed on hold for the next available representative. -Low morale and high turnover resulting from the above points I'm writing this observation here, but it could be viewed as a Pro. It's all a matter of perspective. Since the acquisition, numbers are everything. To no surprise, innovation and creativity gave way to rigid processes and strict rules; business has been impressively streamlined. Budget for entertainment and employee recognition/reward have all but disappeared, and the sounds of laughter and conversation have been replaced by the click clack of keyboards or business calls. On one hand, company growth represented by GP has reached unprecedented heights, on the other, morale is at an all time low and the turnover rate is soaring. Business practices have become easier, but the company does not allow it's employees (upper management excluded) to grow with it. The end result is a feeling of disconnect between the everyday workers and the company goals.
