Corporate's leadership tactics are those of a dictator. There is no leadership from the management outside of the stores. They focus solely on reactive tactics rather than pro-active, and cut your hours if you do not meet their high sales expectations, but do not give you anything if you do. You could work circles around everyone else, stocking the store, greeting customers, merchandising, but if you cannot get one in every seven people paying with card to sign up for their 11.99 a month card, and get every one in twenty people to sign up for their magazines, they do not want you working. I was lucky, my manager fought for me to stay and be given a fair amount of hours, but my DM had enough of it, regardless of how much I worked at everything else. If they cannot physically see you making them money, they do not want to keep you. But they pay minimum wage and expect your first born. They simply do not take care of their employees but expect to be taken care of. If they do offer incentives, which generally just consists of a little bit of store credit, it isn't seen even after telling your DM about it every time you see them. Not to mention every time you send comminucations between your store and different departments of corporate you always get snarky, condescending answers, if you get one at all. They also don't want to spend the money to update stores even after they had carbon monoxide leaking from the air conditioner unit that they refuse to replace, so instead it gets fixed every 3 months after leaking on to merchandise and raising the employees carbon monoxide levels.
