Great place to work

Pros

- great colleagues: low ego, high intelligence. They've kept me here for a long time. - strong engineering culture (testing, architecture reviews, no-fault post-incident reviews - we're all here to learn together) - great place to grow your career - lots of responsibility (some may view this as a con - if you don't want ownership/responsibility, this is not the place for you) - very good benefits package (electric vehicle leasing, decent pension contribution, work from anywhere) - management that leaves space for personal circumstances - very strong work-life balance but also flexible working (want to take a longer lunch break in the winter to maximise sunlight and work later? Sure!)

Cons

- salary isn't as high as some other fintechs - diversity in tech isn't very good (especially in tech leadership) although tbf it's probably no worse than anywhere else - lack of CPO means that product tribes tend to work in isolation and optimise locally

I wouldn't recommend the company for the way they treat their staff

Pros

Some good engineers Pay is OK

Cons

Managers have unrealistic expectations over AI, pushing people to work overtime. Rigid return-to-work policy, ignoring the fact some people live far away and two days in office is unfeasible. The lack of flexibility has caused discrimination to some people, they are totally aware but don't care. There have been cases people raised legal cases but most people don't want to waste time on this. The company will cold treat employees when there is conflict of interest (return to office, for example). It's kind of common for them, so if they do this to you, remember it's their fault. The company try to create a diverse and welcoming image to the public, by participating things like code first girls, which is a huge contrast to how they actually treat their staff, don't be fooled.

Pros

Very good work life balance, you don't hear about people working beyond 5PM other than on the week of new product launches and it's usually made up to those involved pretty well. Nice new office although it feels like we've outgrown it already at times. Some upper management seem very energetic

Cons

Despite the energy the company feels a bit directionless. There's a vague goal of "home of money" but that doesn't really connect with me in terms of actual direction for the company. The company is moving towards AWS with typescript but still focusing on hiring Kotlin developers, but we don't really have TS developers who could do the interviewing. There's a big push to AWS serverless but people are confused when you say you're adopting it?
