Pros

YL has an employer has great benefits, pay, insurance, training opportunities, travel benefits. PTO, etc. If the mission is important to you, it’s wonderful.

Cons

Overall, ministry can be draining & the organization does not recognize a system to create healthy boundaries for employees. It also protects poor leadership even when there are multiple complaints against them.

Pros

Young Life has a strong, mission-driven culture that genuinely prioritizes relationships, personal growth, and integrity. The organization is deeply committed to its mission and does an excellent job equipping staff through thoughtful training, mentorship, and ongoing development. Leadership generally models the values they teach, and there is a strong sense of community and purpose among team members. For those passionate about youth development and faith-based work, it can be incredibly meaningful and rewarding.

Cons

The role can be demanding, and work-life balance may be challenging at times, especially during peak seasons. Compensation may be lower compared to similar roles in other sectors. Additionally, fundraising is a significant part of the role and can be challenging; more centralized support or streamlined processes would make it easier and less time-intensive
