Pros

There are still a few good people in NZ to work with after the restructure but this company is not a long term prospect.

Cons

Nothing about this company is what is seems. Go further than the glossy publications and website. Look for real customers and case studies that demonstrate success. You will find almost none. All the positive reviews on here come from the company's marketing. Every negative HR principle you can apply to management, is demonstrated on a daily basis at Wynyard. This includes nepotism, cronyism, favouritism, and extensive bullying. Most is centrally located to a few key people but it is far reaching. There is a core of people who emerged, over promoted in previous companies, when Wynyard combined in two companies to invent itself into a third. These people are in high consequence leadership positions, performing no leadership or support at all. No strategic direction. No consultation. No collaboration. All 'head in the sand' about the problems with the software and the high costs of implementing it even though they are marketed as COTS. If you are interested in a role in a technical or implementation team - don't do it. You will be expected to work nights, weekends, public holidays, like I do. The favouritism means only certain people get recognised for their work, usually those in the Middle East not New Zealand. As far as innovation, the only development ideas fostered and given credit are those that come directly from a few key people. People who were there from the start, not necessarily those with the best new ideas. Preference is given to those who don't rock the boat. Innovation does not flourish when ego dominates design and good ideas embarrass the people who didn't think of them! The cyber direction is another chaotic, knee-jerk strategy to find something easier to sell but with the same issues. It is a high risk endeavour and again, do your homework. Where has it really sold? How is it performing? Where are happy customers? Look beyond the hype.

Pros

Wynyard Group has some very good and dedicated employees who work hard and are committed to customer satisfaction. A lot of technical managers are closed minded and stubborn but this fosters a perverse sense of camaraderie amongst the rank and file.

Cons

Wynyard Group has had a crazy and unsustainable cash burn these past few years. Missing promises both to investors and to customers have made the company a very difficult and unfulfilling place to work. Marketing has become more about made up stories rather than substance and commercial management began to believe its own PR. The reality of near zero revenue growth and massive growing losses over the past three years has come to the point where the company can't just say that it is great and expect anyone to believe it. The hardest part of the job is the uncertainty whether executive management have the ability and experience necessary to right this small ship.

Pros

Made some good friends through shared adversity.

Cons

This was a really horrible place to work. The rate that's this company churns and burns out staff is only matched by its cash burn rate. Always felt under pressure to try and make the shoddy software built on poor architecture work. Managers are all ex jade old boys club and not up to the task. Has iron fist management approach that quickly shuts down any opposing opinions or constructive criticism of the products to use in the real world. Always felt were running out of runway before the big enterprise clients would risk purchasing such a flaky product suite built by jade accedemic coders. Culture?...Prepare to work 14 hour days trying to keep an unappreciative ships boson happy and never see your family or friends. If they head hunt you or invite you to an interview via an inspirational sales pitch... run, it's just a cover for a press gang.
