Always another challenge to sink my teeth into!
Pros
I love working here because the challenges we face in engineering the platform are interesting, and fun to tackle. The team I work on isn't afraid to learn new technologies, and throw out the old way of doing things when the new way is better, or more efficient. We don't let the latest trends blow us around, never producing anything usable.. but we do embrace new technologies that prove themselves. The environment is quiet, and focused, and serious at times.. and light hearted, and fun at other times. We share common interests, so we're friends as well as colleagues.
Cons
We don't have very much flexibility in what we implement. Most of our time is dedicated to building "that thing this customer needs", and/or "that incremental improvement to that thing that already works". I would prefer more freedom to be inventive, and creative and allowed time to pursue those creative ideas, but I understand we have a business to run and customers to serve!
