Pros

I have nothing positive to say.

Cons

This place is terrible! Pay is mediocre at $30k a year with a degree. High school drop outs can make the same wages at Walmart. Scheduling is horrible as they make me work till 12am have 1 day off and then on again at 7am. Overnight works 10p-6a then go home for 9hrs at most and then work 430p-1a. Work almost 2 weeks straight with 1 day off each month. Staff is under-experienced due to high turn over. Yacht directors and managers micromanage everyone. President and owner does not believe in overtime so I have no incentive to work longer which makes me not care. Alot of work is not even Meteorology. I don't care about mindless monkey work like position entry or performance analysis, not what I went to school for. I will continue applying other places and I regret applying here as this place is a waste of my degree and time.

Again, I feel these reviews are either being made outside of the company (competitor), or by the same person, as there are A LOT of items that are simply not true. The salary is not correct. Furthermore, overnights CAN AND HAVE choose/chosen their schedule rotation between the 2 individuals that work overnights. In fact, most choose that rotation, so they can enjoy 2.5 days off before having to go back to work. The "2 weeks straight, and one day a month off" is not even close to being true. Employees have approximately 10 days off per month. Also, individuals working less than a year, have VERY LITTLE to NO overtime outside of periods of very busy tropics. There is a time clock that documents/records the hours. Furthermore, they forget to mention the generous bonuses that the employer provides, 2-3 times a year, for when overtime, or going above and beyond, are rewarded (see other reviews on this site). The bottom line here, and this is for ANYONE at ANY COMPANY, is that if you have this much of an issue with your job, or employer, GO TALK with your employer! I can tell you that 100% of the time, when an employee has met with me, we have worked on improving that person's experience at the job. If the individual writing the above reviews believes the above to be false, I would welcome your direct comments…come talk to me ASAP about it. I cannot do anything when attacked behind a social medium.

Pros

None that are worth mentioning as many of the cons outweigh the pros.

Cons

This place is a prison, run. Management is an absolute joke, you can preach your concerns and suggestions to them until you’re blue in the face and no one will listen to you. Raises and bonuses are given seemingly based upon favoritism, with no actual set of evaluations or scale used which leaves many hard workers confused and frustrated. They say you are compensated for overtime hours with annual bonuses, but bonuses have now become less frequent with the long and mentally taxing overtime hours still expected amongst all. It is emotionally and mentally exhausting to be employed here. There are few people in upper management who will actually hear your concerns, but most spoken concerns are dismissed at the director level never reach the president of the company, therefore many things remain unchanged. It appears as tho much of this company was built on favoritism and who will drink the juice of those who run it, anyone who voices a difference of opinion or feels discouraged by the workplace are repeatedly dismissed or reprimanded by not receiving bonuses/raises.

Good Day. I am the president of the company. So, if you feel that your concerns are not being addressed, you are more than welcome to bring them to me directly. With respect to the favoritism, while I am sorry you perceive it this way, I can assure you that any review/promotions/raises and/or bonuses are done thru a process that is seen by up to 8-10 different people, depending on the division. All Managers comment and provide feedback on performance, then the directors then take that and investigate and provide their feedback until it finally gets submitted to myself. It is all performance-driven based. Please do not diminish/minimize the performance of others with the accusation of favoritism, they deserve more credit/respect than that. As far as being reprimanded for difference of opinion, that is a very strong statement, and I again, encourage this individual to see me directly on why they believe it is so. Maybe I am missing something, but it wont get solved on a post, but rather in a meeting face to face. Thanks.
