Pros
The benefits plan was really good ($500 per paramedical), plus $1000 in flex funds was nice to have. Remote work was a plus and no requirement to come into the Toronto office. The culture at Wave was really good when I first started working there (this drastically changed in my last year)
Cons
Highly recommend reviewing the recent Glassdoor reviews which touch on the layoffs, changes in culture, incompetent CEO and senior leadership, lack of vision, etc. I second all of these points and are truly accurate to what it's really like at Wave. There is a common consensus among the employees at Wave that the more recent “positive” reviews are fictitious just to keep Wave’s rating above 3 stars. Here are a few other points I’d like to highlight: Favoritism is rampant at Wave and commonly the people who get promoted are in the CEO’s “Boy’s Club”. In early 2023 several high level leadership (director+) got promoted before the rest of Wavers were promoted in July. There was no explanation to why senior leadership could get promoted when all other Wavers were advised only “mission critical” could be promoted. Conveniently, majority of the senior leadership promoted during this time were men and all known to be “close” to CEO Zahir (hanging out in the office, going out for coffees/lunch). Leaders do not actually care for the growth of the employee and will dangle a promotion in front of the employee and make excuses to why they won’t get promoted (ie budget issues, mission critical, business decisions). Despite months of Wavers advising E-Team and senior leadership about the lack of trust, poor morale/culture, lack of transparency that resulted from the layoffs earlier this year there has been no action to remediate these concerns. Their primary focus is to push our initiatives at the cost of the employees. E- Team (namely Zahir and Victoria) have been MIA for months, are unable to answer clear questions about the business, the business strategy, future state of Wave etc. Any tough questions asked by the employees are given long winded, roundabout responses that are meant to distract us from realizing they didn’t even answer our question.
