Slow, old fashioned

Pros

Working for an organisation which has direct impact on the natural environment, like minded people, some of the most intelligent people I have ever met! Flexible working

Cons

The subject matter and the pace...good GOD. As a project manager it is like wading through treacle trying to get anything done. Very traditionally run - very much like an old fashioned public sector - but your are advised to think/act in a futuristic way. That doesnt work. Also, it is much more about keeping the funders happy than the quality of the work.

Pros

The majority of the time it is the people at WRAP that make the place. Good social atmosphere Varied and interesting work subjects

Cons

Senior level management can be often invisible or not empathetic enough The organisation is expanding but the level of people that are delivering is not. leading to a top heavy organisation. Too many cooks! The workload – it is addressed each year and still remains unsustainable for most with many people regularly working over their hours on on a weekly basis.

Pros

Does good work for the environment

Cons

This organisation was once a great organisation which lived and breathed its people-focussed values, but in the last couple of years it has lost sight of these core values. They will still tell you that they invest in their staff's well-being but please don't be fooled - they are just paying you lip service. In reality they no longer care how they treat their staff and are ruthless when it comes to cutting staff numbers in favour of using expensive external contractors.
