The hours are great, Monday -Friday from 8-4:30.
Insurance isn't horrible.
Pension is good and you don't have to deal with rush hour traffic.
Cons
No work/family balance. You are given 3 child sick days per year but if you use them (even if you take no other sick time for yourself), you get talked to about your attendance policy.
The pay is okay. Work with some very intelligent people. The learning is non-stop. You are busy from the time you walk in the door to the time you walk out the door. Very fast paced. Knowing that you are trying to make a difference and assist the public aids in helping to minimize the negativity associated with government organizations.
Cons
County Board is very anti-employee, view all employees as expendable and have no issues with sharing their sentiments; little to no flexibility, the family friendly atmosphere has left the building and has been replaced with micromanagement and an elementary school governance type of atmosphere. Favoritism is rampant along with employee negativity. Employee productivity and a team atmosphere is almost nonexistent.
Poor management, upper management just kept adding more and more work, while it was really difficult to see them doing any work, great at delegating, while some were never there. Alot of favoritism, alot of outside activities going on in background while you were always asked to fill in without able to give any feedback
