Pros

the students are very nice, and most of the staff and faculty are nice. Mission College is close to some good restaurants.

Cons

HR can't handle problems beyond time off. The staff is generally the first group to take cuts as they are not tenured, like faculty. For staff, if you want to move into another job, you must go through the entire interview process- they do not promote from within. (Newly open jobs are first available to current staff, but the interview process is lengthy and includes the EXACT SAME job application as when you first applied.) As with most California colleges, the entire college system needs an overhaul, but WVMCCD won't be the ones to lead that charge. Fact: when a faculty member gets reviewed they set up their own review committee.

Pros

37.5hrs/week for non-supervisors. Excellent benefits. Tons of holidays paid off. You get December 24 - January 2 off paid every year, not taken out of vacation.

Cons

It is government so your pay is not as high as you would like it to be. Also once full time almost impossible to be let go...which stinks when you have lazy workers.

Pros

The campus serves a very diversified student population. It offers state of the art methodology which aligns nicely with traditional teaching methodology. Faculty is very accessible for the student for consultation.

Cons

Administration in several cases works on political correctness and puts educational standards in second place. It fails to support and value faculty expertise and experience.
