Pros

1. Nice office 2. Location is very convenient (above MRT station)

Cons

1. Highly reactive (as opposed to proactive) marketing team that only knows how to follow competitors (much better ones like Sonova/Phonak) 2. Mechanical R&D work is extremely repetitive, boring and heavy on CAD. Not much of real engineering done but alarmingly people see drafting as the most important core technical skill as an engineer. Overall, it is 50% CAD, 10% tolerance stack-ups and 40% re-doing work based on last minute whims of other departments. Mechanical design engineer here is basically a glorified drafter. 3. Management is extremely indecisive and way too aggressive on cost cutting. Perhaps the new management is better. Only time will tell. 4. There are some people in the company who think they know better than everyone else about everything. This makes the environment very toxic. 5. Very poor and outdated softwares and processes used probably due to cost. Doesn’t feel like a company geared for Industry 4.0. 6. Asian style management. Boss has the last say and the whole team is terrified of the boss. Some mentors even insist on preparing and rehearsing for weekly team update meetings with management.

We appreciate your feedback! While we are happy to read that you enjoy our Singapore office and its central location, we regret that you don’t like your work environment. It has barely been 100 days since our merger with Widex. We are working continuously to align and further improve our processes and tools, and to grow together - professionally and on a personal level. We are confident that current challenges reflect the immense opportunities ahead of us. In fact, our R&D department with around 800 highly skilled engineers is the largest in the industry. Their goal is most precious: to help people hear again. We will pass on to management your personal insights in an effort to continuously improve our common workplace. You are very welcome to get in touch with us at communications.global@sivantos.com if you would like to discuss any of these matters in person.

Pros

-Most colleagues are nice and supportive -Good Facilities

Cons

1. Management -Management practices top down approach towards staff, and does not allow self agency -Lack of professionalism from staff at managerial positions, inconsistent instructions for the others creates extra and unclear work goals -The company operations has no proper business strategy, and it is fire fighting one day after the other with very limited commonsense. -The management directions are constantly, and drastically changing. Coupled with unclear and inconsistent directions from management, it decreases staff efficiency and frustrates staff. -The merger is adding a lot of hassle affecting people's morale. -No work ethics from management, personal biasness is displayed through casual but spiteful remarks which were often racist, sexist or homophobic 2. Human resources -HR did not fulfill verbal agreements with staff, they are just done to make people stop pointing out issues. -No job security as HR processes are opaque. -Employee's performance appraisal are bias and based on interpersonal relationships formed with disregard for objective appraisal. -Office politics is commonplace everywhere but in this company it could directly influence a staff livelihood. People are often fired, sometimes with no justification nor compensation. -Multiple occurrences of power harassment, bad behavior from manager ie. coming drunk in the office, discrimination displayed was made known to HR in the Singapore office but not being taken care of.
