Pros

Some really good people still work here, and they are the reason this company still exists.

Cons

The issues at Visual Sound start at the top. This was once a place people were proud to be part of when the founder led with vision and respect. That legacy has been replaced by a controlling, medieval-times style of leadership that is out of touch with today’s workplace and has steadily driven the company in the wrong direction. The CEO is the HR department's worst nightmare. The barrier is not capability; it is the leadership of the CEO. Over time, there has been a noticeable decline in morale, culture, and overall employee effectiveness. What was once a motivated and engaged workforce has shifted into an environment where many employees show up out of necessity rather than enthusiasm. The focus has moved from growth and collaboration to simply getting through the day. A major contributor to this shift is the leadership approach coming from the executive level. There is a consistent pattern of dismissing input, shutting down ideas, and creating an environment where employees feel discouraged from speaking up. Instead of being empowered, many feel they are expected to execute without question, which limits innovation and overall performance. Communication can often feel one-sided and, at times, demeaning. Employees are interrupted, talked over, or made to feel that their contributions are not valued. Over time, this has created a culture where people choose silence over engagement to avoid being singled out. There is also a lack of structure and clear process, yet employees are still expected to deliver results without the necessary support or direction. When challenges arise, accountability does not consistently come from leadership, which has led to a breakdown in trust across teams. Despite all of this, the company is filled with talented, intelligent, and capable individuals who want to do good work. The potential is there, but it is consistently held back by an environment that does not allow people to fully contribute or succeed. Look at the pattern in these reviews. These are not isolated opinions; they reflect a consistent experience shared by those who have worked here. There is a reason hiring has become more difficult, and it is not by chance. And eventually, it will not just be prospective employees reading these reviews. Clients will too.

Pros

The employees are the best part of the Visual Sound experience as they are good people, extremely talented and doing the best they can given the unfortunate CEO circumstances.

Cons

CEO makes business decisions based on emotions and not best interest of the employee or the company. CEO is clueless of her negative and demeaning behavior. CEO holds no accountability for her actions and continues to blame others. CEO micromanages and is too involved in everyday business. CEO does not empower; she rules by fear and tries to take your power. CEO is a hindrance to the success of the employees and the company. CEO shows up late for meetings, meetings take too long and are not productive use of time. CEO is rude during meetings - you never know what is going to set her off. CEO not only puts down general employees, but also C-Level executives right in front of others. CEO can be verbally abusive during group calls or in person meetings which makes it extremely uncomfortable for everyone. After the meeting or call, colleagues genuinely care and feel bad so they reach out to see how the targeted employee is doing. CEO gives false hope and continuously breaks promises.

Pros

Many of the employees here are genuinely talented and hardworking. The engineers, technicians, and project management staff know their craft and care about doing good work. The people you work alongside day to day are supportive and collaborative, and the technical capability within the team is strong.

Cons

If you enjoy meetings, you will never run out of them here. It is common to have meetings to discuss the many issues, meetings to prepare for other meetings, and occasionally meetings about how the previous meetings went or to plan the next meeting. By the time the meetings end, the actual workday is just beginning midway through the day. The management approach is extremely hands on, and not in a good way. Experienced professionals are hired for their expertise, but decisions often require multiple layers of oversight, and are oftentimes wrong. At times it can feel like trying to drive a car while someone in the passenger seat keeps reaching over to adjust the steering wheel. The workplace environment can also feel tense at times, as many employees are cautious about making decisions without approval. Imagine a room full of capable adults quietly doing their work while everyone double checks whether something needs another sign off before moving forward. That tends to describe the general atmosphere. There is also noticeable turnover in certain leadership roles. New managers occasionally come in with ideas for improving processes or modernizing operations, but implementing meaningful change can be difficult. The result is that initiatives sometimes stall before they have a chance to gain momentum. The company clearly has talented people and the capability to accomplish impressive work. However, the overall structure can make it feel a bit like trying to run a marathon while someone periodically asks you to stop and explain how you plan to finish the race
