Pros

- Many coworkers are wonderful, intelligent, hardworking people. - Pay and benefits are good relative to other similar publishers. - You have the chance to work on a variety of things and build a variety of skills because there's plenty of work to go around. - You could have the opportunity to solidify your knowledge by training your future replacement who will work for the company's 'preferred vendor' in Colombia. - You'll learn to recognize when a worker is being set up to fail or queued for termination. - You could become the next favorite. - You won't be troubled with office announcements about coworkers being fired, I mean, pursuing opportunities elsewhere, or leaving the company or any other such negativity because VHL is a positive place to work. - You're more likely to have your position eliminated than be outright fired. - The newest iteration of HR also appears to be making efforts to address the office morale (which is so abysmal you could go spelunking in it (don't worry, spelunking is good. It's a perk, like office ping-pong or something)) after receiving comments related to, among other things, the latest wave of badly explained or (more often) unexplained firings, and after constantly needing to explain away glass door each time its asked about in interviews (a tedious task). I believe their efforts have gotten as far as recruiting middle management to contribute some less negative reviews. While that is further than previous iteration's efforts have gone to address the challenges of a growing business, knowing upper management, that's likely as far as their efforts can go.

There are none that come to mind.

Pros

VHL is a profitable company that has industry leading products driving its growth.

Cons

It would be impossible to cover all of VHL's faults in a single review but I will attempt to cover the more critical ones. First and foremost VHL is a company that instills fear in employees by creating an environment where everyone is in constant fear of losing their job or losing favor of senior management (namely the CEO). All employees are seen as expendable, and not an asset that brings value to the company. Second, VHL operates on a predatory business model that attempts to exploit people through low wages, long hours and the use of temporary employment agencies for any and all positions it can. Third, as expressed by other reviewers, the CEO works to undermine the efforts of his employees by constantly second guessing them and leaving them in a state of self doubt. Time and time again he will commit to a strategy and than abandon it on a whim. This leads his senior management to do anything they can to win his favor in order to remain secure in their jobs.

Vista Hire Turnover

Pros

One star for nice office and most people. If you have an interview, note the red flags from who is interviewing you as they will be easy to spot. As much as they like to believe, most of management is actually not smart at all. This provides for great interview practice, especially when you ask about Glassdoor. If you get hired, you will learn a lot about Colombia.

Cons

First, please look at the high number of other scathing reviews, each person has had their own experiences. No one legitimate makes good reviews, the company has to make fake reviews instead of actually improving the situation. Now, the company loses four stars for many reasons. There are no career opportunities, proper guidance, or any advancement; there is survival. Also, prepare to use your skills to the minimum. The compensation and benefits are alright next to other publishers, but can be better. There is no work/life balance, people have been asked to come in during snowstorms, required to miss lunch, and had to fight for certain benefits that affects their families. A list of values is supposed to be maintained, but most will experience the bitter opposite. Most of senior management is an absolute joke. Everyone from directors to interns are mistreated. As the company culture is based on fear, a person leaves weekly one way or another. The tremendous turnover causes most employees to want to leave shortly after they were hired.
