Pros

Good for people who are practically unemployable elsewhere

Cons

-Critical reviews are never seen on Glassdoor (Perhaps filtered?) -No work life balance as management wants less people to do more work (effective 60 hour week) -Micromanagement and no growth -No innovation , No vision -Strategy is to reduce headcount and labor people to work more

Pros

I don't have much of anything good to say about this company other than the work/life balance. You might as well go to the cons.

Cons

Foundation -> It used to be that the insultingly low salary was acceptable because Vishay had industry leading insurance coverage. That's no longer the case. Now you get a garbage salary and poor health insurance coverage. HR's excuse is that the health insurance is "market competitive". What they forget is that companies need to have the entire package look great. The location, the salary, the benefits. And as soon as they went to the HSA they lost the last critical element. They never had a good location or salary. If you're old and looking for someplace to retire Columbus is your kind of place. If you're young and looking for someplace to live life you will be bored out of your mind. Closest metro like area is Omaha and even that isn't all that great. Salary/Promotions-> Laughable at best. You start out with a low salary and you never get the chance to progress. Generally speaking your managers are too lazy to give you your reviews on time. On those rare times when they are on time you won't get the raise or the promotion you deserve. Standard raise is 2.7% and the standard health insurance increase is >=5%. You'll always be facing a losing battle financially working for this company. Don't expect a promotion, ever. Seriously. People have had the exact same job title for the last 35 years of their life there. Professionalism -> There is none here. They let the old employees do whatever they want without any repercussions. When given a complaint, managers don't take it seriously. Work Ethic -> Generally speaking there is none here. There are those employees that work hard and get the job done. They exist. But overall there's way too many employees sitting around or talking amongst themselves. Work/Life Balance → Generally speaking this is usually pretty good. There are those workaholics that will work an 80hr week no matter what. But you’re not required to do so. Communication → It’s kind of funny that for over 2 years the company claimed they had a new telephone system that “just needs to get installed” for all the employees. Then again...it’s was 2 YEARS and they never installed any new phones. Either they were lying to us the whole time or they couldn’t get their act together long enough to install them. Pretty pathetic… Travel → Most employers have customers in the US and even abroad. Most employers have customers in places that their employees might actually want to travel to. That’s not the case here. Know where you are sent if you’re on the right track and doing good at your job? Israel. Not kidding. It’s only right next door to some of the most dangerous places in the world...but yep. You get shipped off to Israel.

Pros

The expectations of HR is very low.

Cons

There is no strategic vision in HR. The Chief Human Resources Officer has no idea about the day to day operations of HR - and HR is not a strategic partner to the business. It is an inflated administrative function without direction or competence. The Global HR leadership team is riddled with infighting and immaturity.
